What's up with all the random tattoo news lately? There was that pixelated ink, then Angelina taught us how to DIY tat. We certainly never thought we'd see anything quite so very innovative as that cool dude who decided to give his girly tat silicone implants, but leave it to the folks over at Trend Hunter to hap upon this genius idea: the inner ear art.

  • The Chronicals of No-Nia continues its fourth week with Beauty Addict, and she's confused that it seems...to...be...working? And an insider in the comments gives us even more of a down-low on this Sephora best-seller.
  • Erika at Makeup Bag gets a tour of Kate Sommerville's posh, newly revamped clinic in LA, and walks away with some of her Nourish Daily Moisturizer.
  • All About the Pretty shares the wealth on a Shu Uemura friends and family discount this weekend. Sweeeeeet.
  • Sigh. Another L.A. spa far, far away from our Times Square digs. Ben at We Love Beauty introduces us to Kalologie Skincare and their new range of skincare products we, of course, really want now.

My friend Gen has a neurotic tendency when it comes to her skin (don't we all!?), but hers is scary damaging: she's a "picker," meaning she pores over each pore and when she sees an anomaly, she will ATTACK! She's been to behavioral therapists who've suggested a number of solutions, none of which worked, until she discovered what works for her: brushing her face!

Lest you are now beginning to think that my friend is nuts, she's not. She's just one very creative thinker who happens to be proactive when it comes to skincare, and I'm not talking about a kit you order from Jessica Simpson. Usually, one must replace an unhealthy addiction with a (hopefully) healthy one, and she found that by gently polishing her skin with a soft toothbrush, she gets an almost porcelain finish that mimics microdermabrasion, and the results are so divine that she could care less about picking, but still gets her hands-on attention satisfied. Now, while I'm not 100 percent sure that any derm would give the thumbs up to toothbrushing the skin (unless the brush is very soft, you could really damage your pores), but she recently visited me, and I had to admit her complexion looked better than ever.

Up for hours of fun? Yeah, I thought you might be. If so, go screw around on The St. Andrews Face Transformer for a spell. Part of a publicly funded project aimed at exploring "the latest advances in facial computer vision and graphics, and what they mean for society," and associated with the computer science program at the UK's University of St. Andrews, it makes facial reconstruction, well, accessible to the rest of us.
