Don't you love when a product kind of does what its name promises? Um, according to Amazon, customers who purchased this product also bought Charla Krupp's How Not to Look Old (the kind of silly tome that actually I'm just jealous I didn't think to write myself, d'oh!). No matter. I just get really amped when the texture of silk is expressed in a product, in this case, making your eye area look as smooth as it was back in the day when you had no concept of the word "wrinkle."

The clinical studies backing this Relastin gem claim that their Zinc Firming Complex not only improves fine lines, wrinkles and sagging, but that, among other miraculous results, 90 percent of the trial monkeys "thought that Relastin left skin smoother." Now, I don't trust internal studies made by cosmetic companies as far as I can throw 'em, but I do know that I believe my own eyes, especially when they look this silky smooth.

No one likes the look of reverse eye-shadow under their eyes, except for maybe my can't-get-past-the-old-goth-days friend who still thinks of undereye circles as "chic" somehow. And not only is there now an entire blog devoted to solving this age-old (ha) problem called um, My Dark Circles Blog, the New York Times just devoted an entire "Skin Deep" to the subject, in which they cited a recent Clinique study that claims, "Roughly 53 percent of the 13,000 Clinique users surveyed by the company in 2006 cited under-eye circles and puffiness as their No. 1 beauty concern." But can a product really fix the bane of any eye's existence?

I've been surrounded by beauty booty long enough to not wet my pants over most products, but when it comes to eye creams, I'm still a junkie at heart. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then a good eye product is the curtain that you want to look immaculate, or um, something like that. At any rate, here are the five besties I've ever come across.

Lancôme High Resolution Eye with Collaser-48
The newish eye serum that's been advertised as containing a powerful combination of ingredients such as Vitamin P, HEPEs, and caffeine to erase wrinkles and help improve the skin circulation around the eyes seriously delivers. Not only do my crow's feet shrivel away in its presence after a few weeks of usage, due to an almost undetectable luminescence in the formula, High Resolution has that rare capacity to deliver immediate results. I can't say enough good things about it, and as my supply runs lower, I get nervous that discontinuing use may result in the sudden onset of droopy bags and a roadmap of wrinkles. Fingers crossed!

Neutrogena Visibly Firm Eye Cream, Active Copper Formula

I always tell my girls not to skimp on the eye cream (that's what cleansers and toners are for), but this Neutrogena gem works so well, you'll forget you bought it at the drugstore. Derms love this product, and there's a reason: for $19, it's a good deal, and totally effective at firming and plumping delicate eye skin while being perfectly appropriate for all sensitive skin types and those of us who believe fragrance is best left to perfume. So there ya go.

These little gel slices have been around for ages, but I didn't hear about them until a very brilliantly made up boi at a Bare Escentuals store cornered me and said, "GIIIIIIRL, you have got to get yourself some of these!" And for $8.00, how can I walk away from such a recommendation? I cannot. Per Troy's advice, I threw my package into the fridge and then after a night of merriment and excess, I applied them to the giant grocery sacks under my eyes and then sat on the sofa, hoping desperately not to throw up.

The gels feel a lot like you've got two slices of deli meat on your face, but the innocuous little slicks did a number on my appearance. I may have felt like death on a platter, but I looked amazingly well-rested and ready for the day. Take that, tequila!

Man, Borghese really knows how to step a good thing up. We were digging on their Fango Brilliante Brightening Mud Mask for Face and Body for spinning ye olde classic mud into a miraculous all-over skin salve. And now it sounds like they've done it again with a brand new multi-tasking concealer that makes like an intensive eye cream and cover up in one.
