DRUGSTORE COWGIRL

![]() Image via Eucerin I have in my life one of those cruel O. Henry ironies: I am crazily obsessed with protecting my skin from the sun's damaging rays, but I'm also cursed with the most sensitive skin on the planet. I currently have on my arms and legs the most beautiful case of bright red itchy hives due to the fact that I just took a chance and borrowed someone's sunscreen at a pool party over the weekend. It was a brand that worked for me, but not the same formula ("Sport" rather than "For Babies") wherein lies the tragedy. The worst part is that I had just gotten rid of a raging case of hives on my arms, due to another time when I tried a new sunscreen, one purported to be just the ticket for people with skin issues. It's like a giant kick in the pants, because a sunburn would no longer hurt after a week (although the skin damage would still be lurking beneath the surface), but right now I'm still scratching at my wounds until they bleed and also suffering from super dry patches caused by the subsequent anti-itch hydro cortisone cream. My face, however, is perfect and that's because Eucerin's Every Day Face Protection SPF 30 has never let me down. I love products that double team, and this stuff is a really decent oil-free moisturizer on top of a titanium and zinc oxide-loaded sunblock so I slap it on my face right out of the shower every day. The best part is that it doesn't even sting your eyes. Note to Drugstore Cowgirls: do not be fooled by the Eucerin lotion with the Q10, as it is NOT the same product and it does hurt if you get some in your eyes...just look for the one with the pink top. Now why doesn't it just come in a giant tube so that I could apply over my whole bod? Maybe it's just Eucerin's wickedly clever plot to get me to buy its very reasonably priced lotion en bulk? Actually, that might be a thought, because it really is the perfect sunscreen if you have super-sensitive skin. Hey, Eucerin, how about a vat of this stuff for 20 or 30 bucks? Where's the love? 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Sorry about your misadventures with hives. Eucerin sure makes some good products for sensitive skin. Like their Calming Itch-relief lotion saved me from scratching like a mongrel during my (freakin' reputed) body-wash induced rash days. My only complaint is that most of their formulations are tad heavier than advertised for facial use and this sunblock is no exception.
My skin's greasy enough for oil-wars to be waged over. Neutrogena's Dry touch sunblock's the best of the lot, this said after trying practically every mattifying SPF 20+ sunscreen Sephora & drugstores have to offer.
Lately I've been using Purpose soap and noticed its oil-free-high-SPF moisturizer sitting pretty next to it. Have you Fiend-Folks given it a shot? Could you people please do a (mattifying) sunblock shoot-out under the zit-zapper section, or hell, at least write about the best mattifiers that soak up face-grease like pros?
