Okay, so I've been on the Clearogen acne regimen for about two months, which I think is ample time to see if this stuff really works or not. Some of you may recall we discussed Clearogen here awhile back, and the company claims that their three-step acne system is TOTALLY different from others because it addresses hormonal acne (even though I saw no mention of any topical ingredient that might do this on any of the labels--why? Oh right, because arguably, this can't be done.) Still, I think most of us adult acne sufferers are so desperate to treat breakouts related to crazy fluctuations in androgen and testosterone levels and PMS we'll believe anything and I was at least willing to give it a shot. Duh. Anyway, personally, I had really high hopes for this batch, even though I felt a bit like, "Okay, the possibility of this stuff actually working is about as likely as Jesus' image appearing in a Cheeto." But I digress...how it all worked out, after the jump!

So the final verdict is that this is a good acne kit, but I wouldn't say it particularly stands out from any other and its claim of treating hormonal acne is, in my opinion, kind of outrageous (for the record, it seems like my skin is broken out even worse than usual during this, that sacred time before my period--sorry if that's TMI but I think, relevant...).

Also, as much as I did like using the product and it seemed effective at preventing extracurricular (non-period related) zits, due to the airless pump design it was nearly impossible to get much more than the tiniest squirt of the step-three medication out of the container, no matter how much turning it upside down and slapping it and pumping it and everything else, a process that was eerily remniscent of say, giving a really inexperienced hand job or something. Just sayin...

I'm going to have to award this with a neutral thumb. Not up, not down, just horizontal.
