![]() Image via worth1000 Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. It seems like ladies everywhere are taking out their frustrations on an industry that insists on visual perfection when it comes to the female sex. (Are actors airbrushed too? Sure, but not nearly as often...) Enter Detouching, a Photoshop contest brought to you by those creative kids over at Worth 1000, a kind of ridiculous site that's um, probably really popular with junior high boys. Still, the sentiment behind this particular contest is sort of novel: They all look soooooooo perfect by the time their pics get to the pages of the magazines, but we, being Photoshoppers, know they didn't start out that way. They've got lines and wrinkles and blotches and pimples just like the rest of us do, and now is your chance to tell the truth--detouch those airbrushed photos and show those shiny perfect people in all their hairy, average glory. Now technically it's a little, well, a lot unfair. I mean, it's pretty over the top. For instance, even though it has been reported that, like many celebrities, Jennifer Aniston spends thousands of dollars on her looks each month, I'm sure she isn't really covered in warts. (Oddly, Angelina still looks hot with bags under her eyes and scars on her face; that lady, I swear.) But hey, it's also unfair that generations of women and teenagers are confronted by unrealistic aesthetic standards everyday! 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
