Sure, dishwashing gloves are outdated, and even give some feminists out there cringeworthy visions of Donna Reed slaving over all the pots and pans her lazy-ass family left for her to do, but consider this: Your hands tend to be one of the first areas where premature aging sets in, so doesn't it make sense to treat that skin as gently as possible? Nothing ruins both your nails and hand skin faster than excess water and exposure to all the nasty chemicals in dish soap. (If the bottle claims it's "good for your hands," it's lying.)

Apparently, there are all kinds of fancy gloves out there for those aiming to skip the surgical look. However, I must warn you that a great many of them are pink, or worse, so-called "couture."

Flip Flop Style does have some cute red ones decorated with cherries, but they also have a black pair with leopard spots that looks like something maybe a stripper would wash her dishes with. A little unnecessary, just like this heinous houndstooth pair at Bow Regards, and don't even get me started on all the faux-fur-trimmed ones that are out there (WTF!?). The very best pair I found? Well, they're not covered in bows and lace, but these plain blue Vileda Fresh Comfort Rubber Gloves have foam lining to reduce perspiration and prevent that clammy feeling you sometimes get when you're wearing dishwashing gloves. Plus, the price is right: They're only $2.20 on Amazon, where they also have a selection of used ones for sale, too. Mmm... Used dishwashing gloves. Yum!

Would you have any advice for housecleaning/dishwashing gloves for those of us who have the dreaded latex (natural rubber) allergy?
I haven't found a glove anywhere without rubber/latex.
Thanks for keeping us in the know and a few extra $$ in our wallets!
