![]() Photo via Splash Earlier this week we wrote about celebrity retouching and airbrushing, and it's with a heavy heart that I deliver the latest gossip: The latest SATC film promo ads are full of it. A Daily Mail article just blew the whistle on what looks like one heavy handed trip to the retoucher's studio. I mean, is this really surprising to anyone? Probably not so much. Still, why is it acceptable that the show's producers can't just freakin' acknowledge that SATC was never a show about teens (or even 20-somethings), and hey, just like every other human being in the world, the gals have aged a little. So what!? Instead, in one of the new promo photos, the ladies look even younger and more flawless than they did in another SATC ad, dated from ahem, 1998. Come on! Almost more than I resent all airbrushing, it really pisses me off when women are exposed to images that are supposed to be representative of "empowered!" older women, and in reality they have totally been run through the Photoshop digital perfection mill. On the other hand, what advertising isn't false these days? Still, doesn't this kind of irritate you? |
