![]() Fuller's Earth Clay image via Mountain Rose Herbs This is a shout out to my girls at Dame magazine and also to my ex-coworker from the old Jane days, Courtney Dunlop, who is one of the most beauty savvy chicks I know (and cool as hell, too). Court just wrote this amazingly helpful skincare story that does all the work for you via derm recommendations. In fact, it's kind of a skin smackdown between Dr. Kenneth Beer, cosmetic dermatologist and author of Palm Beach Perfect Skin, and Daniel Pry, CEO and formulator for Organic Complexion Skincare. There are only three rounds to this battle, but I learned more in this article than I did during an entire semester of fifth grade math. To wit: "...hair products can migrate down throughout the day and clog pores." ACK, really!? "Frequently, when my clients pay better attention to how they rinse their hair and start using styling products that don't contain harmful chemicals, their complexions begin to clear very quickly." HOLY MOTHER. One of my favorite lines, DHC, makes an Acne Spot Therapy product. "...Fuller's earth and kaolin clay with a blend of organic rosemary, oregano, goldenseal, thyme, bergamot, and lavender--I've seen exceptional success with this combination of clays and herbs...Holistic facials that are 100 perfect natural, clay-based, and non-abrasive are great." --Daniel (What is this magical Fuller's you speak of and where can I get it!?! Is this it!?! Because if it is, I'm ordering two.) Daniel also confirms our oil cuts oil suspicions: "Also, lightly massaging select organic oils onto the complexion will trigger the sebaceous glands to slow production of sebum, which results in balanced skin." Other favorite line, Sampar, also makes acne-related product called Prodigal Pen Blemish Corrector. Some random company called Organic Complexion also makes a bunch of cool shit you should try. As you can see, it's a veritable clear skin treasure trove of useful, surprising info. But that's just the kind of quality coverage you'll get from the legendary beauty expert that is the C to the Dunners. Want more? Check out Courtney's wondrous article here! |
