![]() Image via Fred Segal I am a sucker for a face mister, and for years had a major crush on Chantecaille Pure Rosewater, a hot little spritz number featuring hand-harvested roses from the fields of Grasse, France, which is basically the birthplace of fine fragrance. Today, the Sampar Skin Quenching Mist is giving the socialite's standard a run for her money. After the jump, we compare and contrast. CHANTECAILLE DESCRIPTION, FROM ELUXURY: Pure Rosewater is a part of the Chantecaille Aromacologie collection based on principles of aromatherapy and plant therapy. It blends biotechnology, Chinese medicine, and European flower pharmacology to produce stunning products with an unusually high concentration of botanicals. In all Chantecaille products, water is replaced by Pure Rosewater.
SAMPAR DESCRIPTION FROM FRED SEGAL BEAUTY:
Cornflower water, orange-blossom water and lime-blossom water: invigorate and soften skin. Urban active complex, a unique blend of active elements extracted from Shea Butter Extract: a genuine shield against pollution, this extract assists in boosting the skin's level of resistance. A powerful free-radical scavenger and detoxifying ingredient, it protects the skin against the inflammatory reactions caused by chlorine and nicotine while neutralizing the iron and lead found in polluted air. Mint Leaves Extract: an active inner screen that protects, this extract relaxes and soothes the skin. It helps to calm pollution-induced inflammation and stimulates the production of "pleasure hormones." Plant Sugar and Lactate extract: this selective filter helps to develop beneficial germs that help eliminate parasitic germs, thus reinforcing the skin's natural defense mechanism. Usage: Spray on face morning and night. May be applied to the eyes in the morning with a compress. Alcohol-free For all skin types PRICE: $44 for 200 ml THE VERDICT: For $4 less and 100 ml more product, the Sampar seems like the clear winner. The Chantecaille is fabulous, don't get me wrong, but it's hard to compete with all that extra environmental protection loaded into the Sampar version, not to mention the stimulation of "pleasure hormones."
