![]() Image via Dr. Hauschka Dr. Hauschka is a controversial figure in the skin care world. He is anti-exfoliation (apparently, he scoffs that people overscrub their faces as if they're scrubbing a floor) and night cream, which he maintains prevents your skin from "breathing" at night. Still, as the man behind the natural cult classic Rose Day Cream, well, he's still the Man. Makeup artists like Richard Dean and Nicki Ledermann swear by it, as do celebs like Kate Moss, Jerry Hall, Helena Christensen and Cate Blanchett (hell, even Brad Pitt uses the brand, though I suspect the Rose Cream might be a tad girly for him). Not only do they pack the small tube with 30 rose petals, but anyone who loves it will tell you it's simply the richest, most deliciously scented, luxurious moisturizer a gal can get her dehydrated hands on. It's also handy for reducing the appearance of capillaries and red areas. One complaint I've heard from younger women and those with oily skin: It's too damn rich. I guess the good doc himself got the same feedback, because now there's new Rose Day Cream Light, destined for its own cult status. I did a little at-home compare and contrast between the old and light version, and the difference is quite remarkable. Suddenly, the regular version felt like putting on a wool sweater in 98 percent humidity as opposed to a cotton and silk blend cami. Still, I'm going to keep them side by side as medicine cabinet staples, since I have a feeling I'll be switching back to the old standby once negative 30 temps hit. |
